Your vet can tell you about early signs of potential problems and how to keep your pet's mouth healthy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #3c8376;\"><strong>Get your pet's teeth checked sooner if you notice any of the following problems:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Bad breath<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Broken or loose teeth<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Extra teeth or retained baby teeth<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Teeth that are discolored or covered with tartar<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Abnormal chewing, drooling or throwing food out of the mouth<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Decreased appetite or refusal to eat<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Pain in or around the mouth<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Bleeding from the mouth<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Swelling in the areas around the mouth<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Some pets become irritable when they have dental problems and any changes in your pet's behavior should prompt a visit to your vet. Always use caution when assessing your pet's mouth, as a painful animal may bite.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #3c8376;\"><strong>Dental problems can be caused by:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Broken teeth and roots<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Periodontal disease<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Abscesses or infected teeth<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Cysts or tumors in the mouth<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Poor exfoliation or misalignment of teeth and bite<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Fractured (broken) jaw<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Palate defects (such as cleft palate)<\/p>\n<p><strong>There are many pet products marketed with claims to improve dental health, but not all are effective.
